Below are a few of the most common questions we receive from first time guests.
WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT CHURCH?
Grace Bible Chapel is a non-denominational church. We hold no ties to a denominational body or association of churches. Although we are non-denominational, our doctrine and government is most similar to the Baptist church.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?
Our services are traditional and relatively simple in nature. We sing using both a hymnal and projected lyrics, with piano accompaniment. We pray, informed by our scripture reading and current events. And we hear God’s Word preached for thirty to forty minutes with the underlying conviction that the Bible is meant to be lived, not just learned.
AM I EXPECTED TO PUT ANY MONEY IN THE OFFERING PLATE?
No. We do not expect our guests to contribute to our ministry. Our church service is just one way in which we can minister to you.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
The people of Grace dress modestly for the occasion. We don’t require anyone to meet a specific dress standard.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TWO SERVICES SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER ON SUNDAY?
Unlike many churches which have multiple, identical services on the weekends, our two services are different. Our morning worship is a typical worship service, and our afternoon service begins in the Fellowship Hall soon after the worship service with a shared mealtime and then prayer. We are most often done by 1:30.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
Membership is based upon a profession of salvation and baptism by immersion. Those interested in membership will complete a membership application, attend a 4-session New Member’s class (offered periodically), participate in a brief interview with the pastor and deacons, share their salvation testimony and desire for membership with the congregation, and be welcomed into membership by congregational vote. If you desire membership, please contact the pastor or one of the deacons.
